ABOUT

Al Rey Villagracia is a Research Fellow and Full professor at the Physics Department, De La Salle University. He is currently the head of the Advanced Nanomaterials Investigation by Molecular Simulations (ANIMoS) formerly known as Computational Materials Design Research Unit (CMDRU) of CENSER at DLSU.  He co-organized the Computational Materials Design Workshop as (co-) chair with professors from Osaka University.

He received his PhD Degree at De La Salle University sponsored by the Department of of Science and Technology under the Accelerated S&T Human Resource Development Program.

He was an exchange student as a visiting researcher in Osaka University under the Short Course Quantum Engineering Design program sponsored by Japan Student Services Organization(JASSO).

He was designated as a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for 2D Materials and Graphene Research Centre of National University of Singapore from January 2017 - April 2017.

He received a Postdoctoral  Research Scholarship grant from United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to conduct his research at the University of Arizona under Prof. Dr. Joel Cuello (April 2017 - November 2017), and at the University of Florida under Prof. Dr. Adrian Roitberg (December 2017-March 2018.

His research interest is mainly on computational physics and mathematical modelling, which includes the following but not limited to molecular dynamics, stochastic input-output models, complex systems such as traffic dynamics systems and epidemic outbreak, and density functional theory applications on hydrogen storage, 2D Materials, and polymer-nonpolymer interface interactions.

Currently, aside from Dr. Cuello and Dr. Roitberg he has external collaborations with Prof. Dr. Hui Lin Ong of Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Prof. Dr. Ruey-an Doong of National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan) , Prof. Dr. Hsin Lin of Academic Sinica (Taiwan). Prof. Dr. Paul Berger of Ohio State University.
